Team Ecuador, 6 year 10 students supported by Mrs Brittain and Ms Melling are fundraising to take part in a month long expedition with Camps International to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands in South America. During their expedition, the team will be taking part in conservation projects, planting trees in the cloud forest to help endangered species such as the spectacled bears and working within communities helping the locals to build and maintain schools and other projects that will improve their standard of living.
In order for the team to get to Ecuador, they have to raise £30,000 between them. Some of the fundraising will be done at school, but each of the students are expected to fundraise independently.
"My name is Thea and I am participating in the 2014 trip to Ecuador in South America.I chose to do this because it is an amazing opportunity and could teach me so much about other countries and cultures. This knowledge will have more of an impact as it will be learnt first hand.
In order to pay for the trip, which costs £4,300, we need to fundraise. Some of the fundraising activities I have been involved in include selling old horse tack and rugs, looking after people's pets while they are on holiday and I am providing lunches for the local rugby team and any profits I make are going towards the Ecuador trip." - Thea Rowley
"My name is Roisin and I am taking part in the charity expedition to Ecuador in the summer of 2014. As well as fundraising with the school, a vast sum of money must be raised individually. I am planning many things from concerts to dinner parties, selling printer cartridges and babysitting. I am hoping that small fundraisers, along with one or two larger events, will secure me the money I need!" - Roisin McCay
